Satoru Iwamoto, an elementary school student, is temporarily wheelchair bound after an accident. Adding to his misery is the recent loss of his mother which has left Satoru withdrawn; locking himself away from the outside world. In an effort to help Satoru recover from his injuries, emotional as well as physical, his father, Kaoru, has designed a remote-controlled robot that will go to school in his place and allow him to interact with people and do normal things. The robot, “piloted” by Satoru from a large control terminal in his room, is nicknamed ‘Hinokio’ by his classmates. Hinokio is mostly admired by his fellow students, and together they start the new school year. Heaven’s Soldiers (2005) Korea
Tensions in divided Korea reach a high peak with North Korean soldiers being charged with delivering a nuclear bomb and South Korean troops determined to stop them and gain possession of the bomb. However, in the middle of the conflict Halley’s Comet appears in the sky - and this causes a “time rift” linking the present with other points in the comet’s 433-year cycle of close approaches to the Earth. The modern Korean men (and one woman) unintentionally and to their surprise find themselves Time traveling back from 2005 to 1572.
The soldiers on both two sides are in considerable confusion, unsure as to how to get home or where the nuke over which they had struggled has disappeared. Also, the 16th Century Korea in which they find themselves is imminently threatened by an invasion of the Jurchen tribes. The soldiers find themselves divided between the option of using their modern weaponry and thus possibly changing history, or trying to return to their own time without aiding the Korean defenders against the Jurchens.
Meanwhile, the soldiers encounter a local who seems at first little more than a common thief, or at best “a cunning, slightly eccentric young man” - but who does seem to be making some efforts to organize opposition to the Jurchen invaders… There follow some bloody sword battles, while a brilliant scientist seeks a way to travel home and the whereabouts of the controversial nuclear bomb remains in doubt - leaving the fate of North and South Korea, both past and present, hanging in the balance.
