Plot Synopsis:

Martial arts master Hung Hey-kwun and his equally adept seven-year-old son, Hung Man-ting, fight for the rebellious Heaven and Earth Society in their battle against the tyrannical government. Hung is charged with protecting five young Shaolin students, who have portions of a treasure map tattooed on their backs. When the map is assembled, it reveals the location of a great cache of gold, which H & E needs to finance their efforts. While working as a bodyguard for a rather thick rich man, Hung and son must contend with “The Notorious Mother and Daughter,” conniving thieves who use their wiles and kung fu skills to fleece unsuspecting men. However, their greatest threat is Hey-kwun’s old enemy, Ma Ling-yee, now a mutated and seemingly invincible madman, who rides around in a silver, beetle-shaped “car”!

Plot Synopsis:

Set in the Ming Dynasty, Swordsman tells the story of the happy-go-lucky Ling Wu-Chung (Sam Hui), a man who’s as adept at drinking and singing as he is at swordplay, and his tomboy sidekick Kiddo (Cecilia Yip). The duo are given the simple task of delivering their master’s message to another swordsman, only to find themselves embroiled in a bloody struggle for dominance in the martial arts world. Unbeknownst to Ling and Kiddo, the Sacred Scroll has been stolen from the Imperial Library. The document promises “supernatural powers to see through things and to let out power over great distances”, thereby assuring its possessor martial arts supremacy. Among the hopeful are a power-mad eunuch, the vicious killer Zhor (Yuen Wah), the duplicitous Ah Yeung (Jacky Cheung), and even Ngok, leader of the Wah Mountain School and Ling’s very own master.
Along the way, Ling and Kiddo encounter the Sun Moon Sect and after a series of misunderstandings, befriend the whip-wielding Chief Ying (Cheung Man) and her snake charming, second-in-command Blue Phoenix (Fennie Yuen). In a fairytale twist, Ling shows kindness to a seemingly helpless old man, only to find out he’s actually a great swordsman in disguise. In response to Ling’s act of charity, the old man teaches our hero some new swordfighting techniques that prove helpful in the climactic battle. By story’s end, allegiances are betrayed, secrets are revealed, and heroes emerge as all the film’s surviving characters meet up for the inevitable bloody showdown for possession of the Sacred Scroll.

Those that have seen director Ishikawa’s second and more well known film, “Su-Ki-Da,” will know what they are in for; gorgeous visuals, minimalist visual and audio stylings, and existential themes. The film is deliberately slow and quiet. For those with patience, it’s an extremely rewarding film experience.

…It’s silly, it’s unbelievable and it’s over-the-top, but none of that matters. Drunken Monkey is deliciously entertaining well worth a look. If you’ve not explored Asian cinema until Kill Bill, it’s not too late, and Drunken Monkey is a great place to start.

Plot Summary:

The bright 15 year-old Taiwanese teenager Lin Zhuzhuang (Michael Kong) was always a bit different from his peers because a very important part of his body was always bigger than theirs. This fact caused him to develop a special often nerve-wrecking curiousity towards sex. After he makes the acquaintance with book shop owner Mr Zheng (Bobby Chen), he creates a love for A books that extends to such immense proportions that even school assistant (Huang Chia) can only look up in disbelief. He starts to totally isolate himself from other people and regards Mr Zheng as his only friend. Even Lin Xiao ying (Liu Honghua) who is secretly in love with him and furtively serves him tea eggs every morning does not seem to catch his attention.

One day Mr Zheng sadly passes away and leaves behind a key and a house number for him. When he arrives at the relevant address he finds a hidden loop hole through which he can peep into a room that is occupied by two young female police officers (Dai Liren and Zhi Tian Ai Zi). It is then that Zhuzhuang discovers that Mr Zheng had an abnormal tendency for sex fantasies. He also realizes that sex is not a replacement for love. He gives up his passion for A books and sets out to find his true love
