New release from TOKIO features the medium-tempo ballad “Hikari no Machi” and “Run Free,” both written by Yoshihiro Kai.

TOKIO, the immensely popular Japanese band who has scored no. 1 hits with songs like Mr. Travelling Man and AMBITIOUS JAPAN! as well as 2006’s Sora Fune do!do!do! (”Space Ship do!do!do!”) returns. Their premier release in 2007 comes in the form of the double A sided single Hikari no Machi / Run Free. The former song is also the opening theme of the anime The Skull Man and was penned by veteran rock musician Kai Yoshihiro and arranged by Nishimura Tomohiko from the trio Sing Like Talking. In contrast to the first explosive track, the second offering is a mid-tempo ballad featured as image song at the “ISU World Figure Skating Championships”. Equipped with such promising material, TOKIO should be on its way up the charts in no time at all.
