I am a very big fan of your site because it has a very clear lay out, it has a fair policy regarding leechers and seeders and the movies you upload do not get distributed in my country.

However, I was extremely disappointed to read about your new policy on accepting only one or two torrent clients. I use Azureus and I don’t understand what’s the problem and why you impose on us this very strict policy? I find Azureus very easy to use and I don’t want to change to another software. I am also suspicious on the motives behind your bans of all the t-clients except a couple.

    velissaria:

We have nothing against Azureus or any other client, the problem is a conflicts with our tracker that creates bloated download stats for our Azureus users. The same thing is happening with BitSpirit, BitLord, BitComet, BitTornado and all the other little bits out there. We don’t why this is happening, it just is. More importantly, we are tired of seeing good peers becoming leechers seemingly overnight through no fault of their own. Since we cannot fix the error we have no choice but to limit the damage. The ban is for the protection of our members. We have no ulterior motives.

I’m sorry, I don’t know much about what torrents really are, but isn’t there a way to look at fixing the tracker, rather than just imposing a community-wide ban? This seems to be a rather recent issue, so something must have changed recently.

Yes it does seem a bit strange. Heaps of other private sites have no problems with the other clients. I guess the owners of this one need some help from someone with the right technical know how. Any takers?

I a member here. I don’t understand why people who have clients that fall in the Banned list just install the proper client so they can use this website.

Its not difficult or hard to use, its free and it doesn’t take that much space. The admin of this website stated they are having trouble with the tracker with all the other torrents programs.

So whats the big deal???? Stop complaining, its a free website with tons of great movies that are screen by admin so you get the best quality films available. Trust me this is one of the best website by far from many websites I have used.

Do yourself a favor go download uTorrent :)

Recent changes are in the clients, not the tracker. Unfortunately, we haven’t the time, nor the patience, to test every single client version out there, so we stick with what works for the majority of users. Perhaps most sites don’t care that their members get penalized or banned for having bloated download stats due to these clients, but we do. Strict ratio enforcement must be tempered by a fair application of the rules. These measures level the playing field for all our peers and prevent them from losing their status due to torrent clients that pad downloads, waste bandwidth or allow for spoofing and cheating. We hope you will understand and abide by the site rules. They exist so that every member may have the best experience possible.

Is BitTorrent allowed, because I was downloading a couple of films and the tracker seems to have kicked me off the downloads. Would this be the reason?

  9. Shig on January 14th, 2008 1:09 am

I have a mac and utorrent does not work for macs, any other suggestions.

sorry but i have to vent a bit. It’s pretty frustrating that after 4 months the avistaz admin’s have not managed to get their tracker sorted. My problem is that although uTorrent is a fine client it doesnt run on linux. So i’m stuck with transmission. And for whatever reason although transmission does a good enough job at downloading i rarely if ever upload with it. (unlike with azureus where this works (yes, both ports are being forwarded by the router)).

The irony of it is that the reason the admin’s care about which client we use is so that they can maintain their anti-leech policy (which i’m all for). But the consequence is that I have to leech more because i now have to use a client which won’t upload (well).

@ Shig: Transmission runs on OS X and is allowed by avistaz. Maybe you’ll have better luck with it then i am…

Ok, I dont know where to post this, so I’m posting it here hoping for a clarification. I’m sorry if it is the wrong place. I recently registered on this site and yesterday was the first time I decided to download a torrent from here. Since it is my first download my ratio is 0.00 right now. When I try to download the file I get a message saying that I have to wait 58 hours before I can download the file, please seed instead. :-o
I mean, my ratio is 0 not because of a poor upload/download ratio, its just that its my first time, surely I have to start at zero, so why should I be penalised for trying to download even the very first time? If the file was already with me, surely I’d be seeding now :)

Hi, thanks for this wonderful site : D
I was reading this About page and found that you put the Internet Piracy Act that appears on so many websites. I just wanted to let you know that the “Internet Piracy Act” does not exist and offers absolutely no protection at all against prosecution (although that probably will never happen =P).
