The female duo Twins, consisting of Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi, have achieved great popularity as singers and as movie stars in the past six years. While each of them have starred in quite some movies in the recent years, they have not participated in the same film project after Twins Effect II. Now Twins Mission not only reunites them on the silver screen, but also brings them to collaborate with great action stars such as the promising Wu Jing (SPL), reputable Sammo Hung, and Yuen Wah who have amused so many in Kung Fu Hustle. For the first time the two gorgeous girls attempt to portray kung-fu experts, enacting some fighting sequences among the more spectacular ones demonstrated by the veterans.
The film centers on an extraordinary martial arts school called “Twins”, whose members are all twin siblings. Quite a few of them have become famous acrobatic players, like the twin sisters Pearl and Jade (Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung). Another former member Lau Hay (Wu Jing), whose twin brother is seriously ill, is commissioned to protect the mysterious “Heaven’s Bead” from Tibet together with Uncle Luck (Sammo Hung). However, some evil former Twins members rob the precious bead, prompting Uncle Luck to seek help from ex-Twins leader Chang Chung (Yuen Wah). He then sends Pearl and Jade for a mission to uncover the “Heaven’s Bead”…
Co-starring Steven Cheung of Sun Boy’z, veteran Sek Sau, pretty actress Jess Zhang, and a bunch of real-life twins, Twins Mission presents an action comedy filled with dazzling fighting sequences plus plenty of jokes to amuse.

The geneticist Dr. Azuma (Akira Terao) develops a technique called “neo-cell”, capable of regenerating the body of human beings, sponsored by an evil corporation. His son Tetsuya Azuma (Yusuke Iseya) dies in the war, but after an accident in the laboratory of Dr. Azuma, Tetsuya revives as the powerful warrior Casshern, while a new breed of mutants called “neo-humans” is generated in the plant. The neo-humans decide to annihilate the humans and raise a new world.

I found this movie to be very well-paced. The premise is quite imaginative, and as a viewer I was pulled along as the
characters developed. The pacing is done very well for those that like to think–enough is kept hidden from the viewer
early on, and questions keep arising which are later answered, producing a well-thought out and very satisfying film,
both cerebrally and from an action standpoint.
It seems some people were looking for a non-stop roller-coaster ride with this film–one of those that comes charging out
of the gate. This would be more analogous to one of those coasters that first takes you slowly up the hill–creating a
wonderful sense of anticipation–and is ultimately, in my mind, more fulfilling for the foundation initially laid.
Excellent film.
